What to do in San Francisco
San Francisco has a hugely multicultural and significant history with regards to the United States. Your stay for the American Football and Baseball games will be richly enhanced by all that is on offer in one of the most iconic cities in the world.
Day 1
In a city bustling with trams, joggers and cyclists why not take a short walk from the hotel into the largest Chinatown in America? Here you can grab a bite or visit the Greek influenced Kokkari Estiatorio restaurant known for its delicious grilled lamb and fantastic fresh produce.
Day 2
Game day! Head down to Levi's Stadium early, via public transport to escape the traffic, and fully embrace the stadium and pre-game atmosphere. After enjoying the hustle and bustle of the stadium experience, not to mention the excitement of the game, head back to the city and wind down with a great dinner at The House of Prime Rib. This San Francisco mainstay is an institution - try our favourite, the King Henry the VIII cut with a glass of Merlot - to finish the day in style.
Day 3
Everyone that comes to this city visits Alcatraz Island; you should be no different. Wander down to Pier 33 and take the ferry to one of the most iconic penitentiaries in history - you will not be disappointed. After this excitement, why not head over to the Mission District and La Taqueria for some authentic Mexican food before washing it down with a few beers or cocktails at the stylish ABV Bar.
Day 4
No trip to San Francisco would be complete without a walk, or cycle, across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. The views are incredible and once on the other side, you can easily get yourself to Sausalito, a stunning waterfront town with amazing views of the bay. We recommend you dine at Nopa, once back over the bridge, where the open space kitchen, fantastic food and cocktails make for a superb end to the day.
Day 5
Baseball game day! Why not fill up on some breakfast at Brenda's French Soul Food, a highly recommended neighbourhood favourite; we recommend the Shrimp and Grits with Bacon Gravy to get the day going on the right note. Head to the ballpark and take in the entire stadium experience with the amazing food and drink on offer. Highlights include the famous Garlic Fries, the Chicago Style hot dogs at McGraw Grill, the Burger called the Juicy Lou, named after the Giants mascot Lou Seal, or our pick, the Dungeness Crab on grilled, buttery sourdough bread. The game should be a real experience in one of the great ballparks in the USA. Post-game, why not head to the excellent 21st Amendment Brewery and Restaurant for drinks and a bite to eat … just in case you didn’t eat enough at the stadium!
